Shadow Sessions

While not required, Shadowing Sessions are strongly encouraged for prospective students and applicants as a way to gain additional information and experience in the Medical Imaging profession.

If you would like to participate in a Shadowing Session, please visit the Bon Secours Academic Affairs webpage. Please note that shadowing experiences are conducted by location, and all required paperwork must be submitted prior to participation. We recommend beginning this process at least two months before the admissions application deadline of March 1. 

Once the process is completed through Academic Affairs, prospective SOMI students (only) can follow the instructions below to schedule a shadow session..

Requirements for Scheduling a Shadow Session

Due to limited space and availability:

• Shadowing sessions are open for candidates that are applying to the Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital School of Medical Imaging only.
• Only one 3-hour shadowing session per person is allotted.
• Shadowing sessions are conducted only diagnostic radiography departments. Advanced imaging modalities, such as ultrasound (sonography), are not included.
• Candidates interested in shadowing for more than 3 hours are responsible for finding their own preceptor.
