SOMI Welcomes Back Alumni for Lunch and Learn Event

St. Mary’s Hospital School of Medical Imaging (SOMI) hosted its first alumni event on Tuesday, Nov. 19, welcoming Daniel Spivey, a 2006 graduate, back to campus. The event, a Lunch and Learn with spring graduates, provided an opportunity for students to gain practical insights into their future careers.

Spivey, who serves as manager at Memorial Regional Medical Center, shared his journey into a leadership role. He discussed his daily responsibilities, the mistakes he made along the way, and the lessons he learned from them. Students also shared their concerns about life after graduation, engaging in an open dialogue with Spivey about navigating the transition from student to professional.

Lunch and Learn events at SOMI aim to connect students with industry leaders, providing real-world advice to complement their academic training. This inaugural gathering marked a milestone for the program, paving the way for future alumni engagement.
